With more than 15 years’ experience in quality improvement and population health management, Melissa is dedicated to helping primary care practices achieve performance goals through innovative, data-driven solutions. She specializes in preventive care strategies and practice transformation to support value-based care models and make a difference in people’s health and lives.

Growing up in a family of nurses and social workers led her down a path that included healthcare and helping people. Her strong background in quality work, including work as a quality auditor, is driven by a passion for improving processes to achieve better outcomes for healthcare providers and patients. An advocate for preventive screenings, she has helped dramatically improve screening rates — from 18% to 70% within a year, for example, while also driving substantial healthcare savings.

As Quality Improvement Specialist for Community Care Network of Virginia, she led statewide cancer screening and diabetes prevention initiatives, managed case management teams and implemented quality programs across multiple primary care practices that improved population health metrics by 20%.

Before joining Vanova Health, she served as Transformation & Quality Manager and Transformation & Quality Coordinator for Vanguard Health Solutions. She led strategic transformation initiatives at eight Vanguard Medical Group practices, then progressively added 10 more to Vanova’s CIN after transitioning to her role there.

At Vanova Health, Melissa serves as the point of contact for client delivery performance and partner satisfaction across all CIN partners, develops customized operational strategies and contingency plans to meet contractual and quality goals and oversees quality programs including HEDIS and Medicare Stars.

Melissa holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Nova Southeastern University. She is driven by the knowledge that even small improvements in preventive care can help countless patients avoid serious illness and enjoy a healthier life.
